Pastor Mike McCollum
Hello, my name is Michael McCollum and I have been the youth pastor of the Hillsboro Nazarene Church since May of 1999. I was born in Frankfort, Indiana. That's right, I am a Frankfort Hotdog. I struggled as a teen, spiritually, until I went to youth camp just after graduation, 1990. At youth camp I yielded my life to the Lord. Little did I know at the time, this one decision would lead me on an incredible journey.
I lived in Frankfort until college time where I attended Purdue University for one year. Not knowing what I wanted to become, I worked in a factory for one year. I then went to school to become a Respiratory Therapist. One long year later of working and going to school full time I graduated. I worked at Home Hospital in Lafayette Indiana for four years. While at Home Hospital I began work on a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. At the end of my business classes I had the most wonderful encounter with the Lord. On a sunday night God called me into ministry. A few months later I was in Colorado Springs, Colorado studying to be a pastor.
While in Bible College I was a part time youth pastor at the Academy View Wesleyan Church. After one year I took a full time position at the Hillsboro Nazarene Church.
At this time my official degree was a Bachelors in Business Administration with two minors: one in medical, one in religion.
Arriving at Hillsboro I began over the next four years to take many more Bible classes. More importantly, what a ride it has been. It's amazing when you give your all to God. In my twenties I always felt something was missing. I loved God, but something was missing. When God called me, I had this awesome sense of fulfillment.
I married Tracie Davis April 3, 2004. Our son Gabriel Michael was born March 9, 2007. Life has changed so much in our house but in the most wonderful way. My life is incredible. My wife, my son, and my wonderful Lord.
It is my awesome privilege to be a part of this wonderful, caring and loving church. I look forward in being a part of this amazing ministry at the Hillsboro Nazarene Church.
It's wonderful to see how God changes, heals, and completes people.
My favorite verse: I John 1:9 - "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." (NIV)
